Anne Schroeder

Anne, who estimates she's seen West Side Story 25 times, adores the hit song, "I like to be in America." Growing up, she regularly danced in front of her mirror while pretending she was Anita.

It's no wonder that Anne plans to borrow from that classic number for her Movers & Shakers routine. Having attended every previous Movers & Shakers event, Anne calls this opportunity "a little bit of a bucket list item for me."

It's also another chance to do something positive for the community she loves, which is important to her. She has spent 11 years on the board for the Make-a-Wish Foundation, has been heavily involved in Sheboygan Service Club and spent more than decade serving Junior Achievement Sheboygan.

Anne's Sheboygan beauty salon, Aprivé, her second successful business venture, is thriving. More than two decades ago, at the age of 24, she and a co-founder opened Salon Sasé, which grew tremendously. A few years back, Anne decided to open her new place.

Her twin sons, 21-year-old Matt and Robbie, are enjoying their third year of college at UW-Madison and UW-Whitewater, respectively. Anne enjoys the "empty nest" lifestyle with her husband, Rob.

"It's wonderful," she says. "Don't get me wrong; I miss the boys a lot. Rob and I feel like every night is date night. We love to cook together and open up a bottle of wine."

There was a time when Rob and Anne spent weekends going to their boys' basketball games. "Now we have to find things to do," she says, laughing. "The future definitely involves more travel for us."

Anne still likes to be in America, but there's so much more to see.

Anne is sponsored by the Grover Family Foundation and has chosen Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice as her recipient charity. If Anne is the gala champion, her charity will be the 2017 partnering charity and will receive $10,000.

She will perform a salsa routine with her dance partner, Zeke Cribbs.
