Volunteer for the 2012 Movers and Shakers Gala

The 2012 Movers & Shakers Gala is going to continue to make a positive impact on our community. Please join us in supporting the vibrant Lakeland College and Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra by volunteering at the event. The 2012 Gala will take place on May 19th in the Lakeland College Wehr Center.

Below is a summary of the volunteer opportunities available. We would prefer volunteers sign-up online using this form. If you are unable to do so or you have questions, please contact Gala Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@sheboygansymphony.org.

NEW! For those of you who were food service volunteers or are considering assisting with food service, we will be working with a professional food service company this year! Two volunteers will work with one professional food server to serve three tables. This new opportunity should allow for better food service organization, service for the guest and an more enjoyable experience for our volunteers!

  • Pre-Event: Prepare both the reception bar and the ballroom bar.
Reception:
  • Responsible for serving drinks from the reception bar.
  • Work with bar runners to keep area stocked and cleaned.
  • Break down reception bar when the guests move into the ballroom for dinner.
Ballroom:
  • Be sure ballroom bar is stocked and ready to serve guests.

There are two tasks associated with this volunteer opportunity.

Live Auction Spotters:

  • Stand between the tables you are spotting and encourage the guests at the tables to bid on live auction items
  • When a guest at your table is bidding, raise your star bidder paddle high to get the attention of the auctioneer. If the auctioneer is not recognizing you, verbalize you have a bid.
  • Each spotter will have a bidder sheet for each live auction item. If someone in your area is the winning bidder, please write down the winning bid and have the winner sign or initial the bidder sheet. The winning bidder sheet will then be collected from you immediately.

Vote Collection:

  • Mingle throughout your assigned tables selling votes in support of the celebrity dancers
  • Collect the votes during the course of the evening and deliver to Gala Bank

I acknowledge I am providing my services to Lakeland College as a volunteer. I understand and agree I am not entitled to and will not seek coverage or reimbursement under Lakeland College's Workers Compensation or any other Lakeland College insurance, general liability or otherwise, for any injuries, damage or loss I may sustain related to my service to Lakeland College in a volunteer capacity.

I agree to waive and relinquish all claims I may have as a result of serving Lakeland College in a volunteer capacity against Lakeland College and its directors, officers, trustees, agents, servants and employees. I do hereby fully release and discharge Lakeland College and its directors, officers, trustees, agents, servants and employees from any and all claims from injuries, including death, damage or loss which I may have or which may accrue to me on account of my volunteer services.

I further agree to indemnify and hold harmless and defend Lakeland College and its directors, officers, trustees, agents, servants and employees from any and all claims from injuries, including death, damages and losses sustained by me or arising out of, connected with, or in any way associated with the activities related to my serving Lakeland College as a volunteer.

As a parent/guardian of a minor child/ward I acknowledge s/he is providing his/her services to Lakeland College as a volunteer.
