Finally, Tammy gave her husband, Larry, the thumbs-up.

"He had always wanted to open up a little corner bar, a place where people could shake dice and play cribbage," Tammy says. "But I always put my foot down. Once the kids were older, I realized I couldn't keep squashing his dream."

With Tammy's full support, Larry founded Legend Larry's in 2001, and the rest, as the old cliché goes, is history. Legend Larry's is now well-known for its renowned, award-winning chicken wings, and now features four locations in Wisconsin.

"What's interesting is that wings were not the original purpose of the bar," Tammy says. "When the wings took off like they did, Larry resisted the fast growth at first. I just said, 'Go with it.' It's certainly been a fun, interesting journey."

Now it's Larry – Tammy's high school sweetheart and husband of 32 years – who is encouraging her to "go with it." Larry and the couple's two children urged Tammy to dance in this year's Gala, exuding family pressure Tammy describes jokingly as "forceful evil."

Her dancing background? "High school gym class," she says with a chuckle.

"They challenged me to step outside the box, outside of my comfort zone," she says of her husband and children. "Oh, and they're really challenging me to update my '80s dance moves."
